This position is fully remote, telecommute, work from home.


The Junior Purchasing Buyer will have the main responsibility of planning, organizing, and supervising the comprehensive purchasing functions for the nutritional supplement, superfood, and overall products business of iRise Organics. This individual will have a strong focus on compliance with mandated requirements and will oversee daily activities related to major purchases. Will also respond to a range of inquiries regarding processes or outstanding purchase orders and invoices. They will report into the Director of Products and will assist with negotiating terms and conditions with vendors and/or service providers and achieving department objectives and goals within budget.

Description & Influence:

  • Maintain all purchase orders, manage invoicing process for all products and orders with our main fulfillment center, as well as vendors
  • Track inventory levels and products to ensure adequate stock levels
  • Source, price, and purchase raw materials, components, and operating supplies
  • Issue, follow-up on, and maintain purchase order system, including files
  • Maintain production schedule for weekly meeting as it pertains to material arrival date.
  • Work with Quality Control to qualify new vendors and raw materials
  • Obtain proof of Certificate of Liability Insurance from vendors annually
  • Obtain Bio-terrorism Registrations from vendors and follow up as necessary
  • Obtain Certificates of Analysis for all raw materials and Finished product
  • Obtain Specifications Sheets when available
  • Liaison with fulfillment centers: Update Inventory, PO, ASNs, RMAs, Ending balance, and order special inventory for special events.
  • Obtain Vendor Qualification reports: Yearly
  • Site visit and Audits in the absence of Quality Auditor
  • Maintain vendor files
  • Assist in determining purchasing schedule
  • Maintain professional relationship with vendors
  • Work alongside Director of Products to negotiate pricing with vendors
  • Work with Accounting to ensure invoices are paid on time
  • Ensure cGMP and FDA compliance with the Purchasing function
  • Understand and abide by the policies detailed in the Employee Handbook
  • Due to changing workloads, employees will be required to work in multiple areas and may be required to perform other duties or tasks on an as needed basis.
  • Perform additional projects as delegated by the Director of Products

Background & Experience:

  • 2 years experience with Manufacturing ERP Systems. A preference will be given to Process Pro or Batchmaster.
  • Associates 2 year degree preferred in accounting, business management or similar experience
  • Ideal background in nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, parts manufacturing, food or nutritional supplements
  • Must obtain a working knowledge of regulatory/quality requirements and perform within all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies.
  • Moderate to Expert(preferred) MS Excel, Word.
  • MRP experience preferred
  • Strong attention to detail with an ability to plan and manage projects
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles as they relate to invoicing payment and receipt tracking
  • Articulate and able to interact and communicate with outside vendors and internal stakeholders
  • Inventory management experience a plus
  • Contract negotiation a plus but not required
  • Purchasing and cost/expense management.
  • Able to function in a quality driven environment.
  • Typing speed of 40 WPM
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to take ownership, roll up sleeves, and get things done
