Title: Email Engagement Campaign Associate (Temp to Perm)

The Email Engagement Campaign Associate (EECA) will be responsible for managing and producing email campaigns to engage the Wikimedia Foundation’s global donor base with communications throughout the year, and to cultivate new lists of non-donors. Our email list represents people in over 25 countries and 20 languages, who all love Wikipedia. In keeping with the Fundraising team’s culture of multivariate testing, the EECA will experiment and report on different tactics for engaging this list, developing campaign strategies that will be appropriate across many cultures. This role entails the management of many moving parts, from translation, to creative strategies, to email and web design, to analytics, requiring both creativity and technical competency. The EECA will work with our analyst and senior managers to increase market understanding, improve donor retention and conversion rates, and contribute general improvements to the Wikimedia Foundation’s fundraising program.
We’d like you to do these things:
- Design new email engagement tracks, such as newsletters, advocacy, and welcome campaigns, to maximize donor conversion, minimize unsubscribes, and drive long-term donor retention.
- Track and report on key performance indicators, documenting successful strategies and changes in engagement rates over time.
- Generate creative content and test variants, from content strategy to email production. Work closely with the global campaign manager and copywriters to ensure our constituents are provided with high quality, error free messages optimized in their own language and culture and tested for compatibility across all major email clients.
- Assist production and campaign associates in producing and sending email content, both related to engagement campaigns and programmatic initiatives.
- Work closely with managers and senior managers on the team to improve processes, optimize messages, analyze results and drive our iterative A/B testing program.
- Utilize market research, surveys, data analysis and reporting to develop a deep understanding of the Wikimedia Foundation’s fundraising strategy and propose how it can evolve over time.
We’d like you to have these skills:
- 3+ years of related experience, ideally in digital fundraising and/or email campaign management
- Excellent project management skills and attention to detail
- Familiarity with, if not proficiency in, CSS and HTML for email
- Collaborative and highly creative self starter with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Analytical mindset and experience summarizing findings from data into reports using narrative, tables, and graphs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and an editorial mindset
- Ability to work in an open, transparent and collaborative environment
- Ability to adapt quickly and easily to changing requirements in a data driven, fast-paced, tech based non-profit organization
And it would be even more awesome if you have this:
- Experience with A/B and multivariate experiments
- Experience working with remote teams
- Previous international or localization experience
- Knowledge of multiple languages
