Ensures that Revenue Cycle goals, objectives, and vision are achieved. Working with the senior leadership, develops short and long-range plans with a focus on continuous improvement. Establishes and implements policies and procedures and identifies growth opportunities. Direct oversight of daily operations including management of managers, supervisors, and coders. Intregal in the development, implementation, and maintenance of efficient processes, coding compliance plan, and coding education for Ensemble Health Partners.

  • Consistently exhibits behavior and communication skills that demonstrates Ensemble Health Partners commitment to superior customer service, including quality, care and concern with Ensemble Revenue Cycle Leaders and Clinical Leaders.
  • Works collaborative with the Senior Director of Coding to develop business plans, short and long term goals, along with measureable targets designed to improve efficiency, quality of care, clinical documentation, timeliness, productivity, service excellence and appropriate reimbursement for services. Disseminate progress towards goals to coding leadership and coders.
  • Stays abreast of industry coding issues and changes that will impact coding and charging patterns. Serves as subject matter expert for the organization on the coding/charging functions as applicable.
  • Ensures all coding and abstracting of health records meet established standards of accuracy, timeliness, quality, and productivity.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in using payer and coding specific web sites to maintain up to date coding knowledge including new changes to coding compliance and reimbursement. Must be able to effectively integrate changes into Ensemble Health Partners through communication, charge router and coding/charge review edits
  • Demonstrate the ability to quickly identify incorrect coding and compliance trends; to analyze, investigate suspected problems to determine root cause and resolution.
  • Manages staffing resources including training and performance management.
  • Demonstrates the ability to independently research and accurately resolve insurance denials in a timely fashion with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in working the Epic billing system; includes accurate charge entry.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years progressive management experience. Minimum 5 years recent HIM acute care and clinic coding experience.
  • Demonstrates well-developed organization, planning and technical abilities.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills necessary to handle daily operational activities and analyze situations, make appropriate responses, coordinate resources to meeting organization and department needs and supervise assigned team members.
  • Proficient in word, excel, power point.
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of electronic medical record computer systems and database utilized throughout Ensemble Health Partners.
  • Knowledge of CMS & 3rd party payers coding guidelines, cci edits.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently to carry out work efforts.
  • Corporate management of DNFB.
  • Extensive knowledge of coding guidelines and payer specific requirements.
  • Thorough knowledge of Diagnostic Related Grou[ (DRG), and All Patient-Refined Diagnosis Related Group (APR-DRG) methodologies
  • Working knowledge of the Clinical Documentation query process.
  • Working knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR), coding software, and Microsoft applications.
  • Proficiency in keyboarding skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex coding requirements with others.
  • Ability to function under continual deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize projects efficiently.
