We are looking for a Commercial Counsel to join our team. Groupon’s Commercial Counsel will review, draft, and negotiate a broad array of commercial agreements and advise on business operations and initiatives. This person will collaborate and work cross-functionally across the legal department and multiple business units, including procurement and sales. This position offers the opportunity to work on novel issues and to think creatively about how to solve unique business problems. The ability to lead in your practice, work as part of a team, and accept new challenges and learn is key for this position. You’ll spend time on the following:

  • Review, negotiate, and draft a broad array of commercial agreements, with an emphasis on sales, procurement and marketing agreements
  • Advise multiple business units on business initiatives, balancing legal considerations with business realities
  • Review marketing and advertising materials
  • Research and counsel on sales, advertising, and commercial matters

We’re excited about you if you have:

  • 3+ years of relevant experience, including substantive experience drafting and negotiating a broad array of commercial agreements
  • Experience working with sales teams highly preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and interact effectively and autonomously with merchants, clients, and business leaders at all levels of the organization
  • Proven track record of accountability, attention to detail, and organization in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines under pressure
  • Ability to work independently and also collaborate with colleagues at all levels of the company
  • Strong sense of humor and flexibility required
  • Ability to think autonomously and outside-the-box
  • JD degree and licensed to practice law
  • Chicago-based preferred but open to remote
