Description

As Olive’s second in-house counsel, the candidate will be uniquely positioned to grow professionally in an incredibly fast-paced environment with a high-growth AIaaS company. The Legal Division at Olive is dedicated to providing top notch service and support to all Olive Divisions. The Corporate Counsel’s primary focus will be to assist the sales and revenue division, with a focus on drafting and negotiating AIaaS agreements with Olive customers. The candidate will also have many opportunities to display initiative in support of other Olive Divisions and will work closely with the general counsel on almost all legal matters. This role is a great opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic, collaborative in approach, has good judgment and is able to navigate a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

Olive deploys a flexible, distributed workforce and this position can be located anywhere in the United States. The candidate is expected to be generally available during normal business hours in support of the general counsel who is based in Columbus, Ohio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Negotiating, drafting, and executing AIaaS contracts and other agreements with customers/vendors
  • Offering counsel on a variety of legal issues, as needed
  • Manage outside counsel on specific assignments, as necessary
  • Supporting other divisions within the company, including human resources, finance, marketing and product & engineering
  • Advising on contract status, legal risks, and the legal liabilities associated with different deals
  • Support the general counsel in identifying, evaluating, and advising on legal risks
  • Providing training to the company on legal topics, as necessary

Competencies:

  • Significant contracts or transactional legal experience, with an emphasis on technology/SaaS agreements
  • Exceptional EQ, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Health care experience a big plus, but not required
  • Ability to weigh realistic legal risks against practical business considerations
  • Ability to manage time effectively and align priorities under the direction of the general counsel
  • Strong initiative and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain focus in a fast-paced, distributed, dynamic, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure and work effectively with others across the organization

Requirements

  • Must have a law degree from a recognized university
  • Must be admitted to the bar in the candidate’s state of residence
  • Must have 3+ years of experience gained in a law firm and/or in-house
  • Exceptional negotiating skills with both legal and financial/commercial issues
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships within the organization across all divisions
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
