We are actively seeking a Business Data Analyst.

This is a remote role that can be based anywhere in the US.

Position Summary
The Business Data Analyst is a role requiring experience in complex business analysis using various techniques, e.g. statistical, explanatory and predictive modeling, and data mining. The position requires knowledge of best practices and supporting the development of solutions and recommendations for the current business operations. Will work within a team structure to support internal clients to identify analytical and reporting requirements. Be able to provide business data interpretation along with scheduled and ad-hoc data and reports. Will be required to assist in developing or implementing systems to capture business operation information. Requires the ability to wear many hats to support many clients with varied interests and complex reporting needs. This may involve working with the team in building requirements, understanding objectives, managing milestones, and managing to both personal and team objectives. Must be willing to work “outside the box” with a “whatever it takes” attitude. This position reports to and takes direction from the Sr Manager, GSD Operations-Data and Development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine business analysis using various techniques, e.g. statistical, explanatory and predictive modeling, data mining.
  • Lead and participate in solution discovery sessions with clients in the organization as well as team sessions and discussions.
  • Design reports for internal clients and strategic business initiatives that may be in the form of graphs, charts, and dashboards.
  • Research best practices and support the development of solutions and recommendations for internal clients and the organization.
  • Assist in the development or implementation of systems to capture business operation efficiencies and information.
  • Analyze data to ensure data accuracy and identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets. Be able to provide technical methods to support solutions for improvement to data standards and to improve business practices.
  • Utilize leadership and teamwork skills to cleanse and ensure data accuracy for data analytics and production work.
  • Ability to analyze complex business problems and assess how automated systems can be implemented to solve them.
  • Assist and sometimes direct the development and implementation of data collection systems and other strategies that optimize data efficiency and quality.
  • Acquire data from multiple data sources maintaining database/data systems quality and output data integrity.
  • Create and maintain accurate Work Instructions, user documentation, and guides with regular peer reviews.
  • Ability to locate, define and assist in the implementation of new process improvement opportunities.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with a proven ability to distill complex business issues into easily understandable terms for a variety of audiences.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability and willingness to engage in many different and simultaneous tasks.
  • Must be a self-starter with a desire to learn and mentor others via hands-on, apprenticeship model.

  • Skilled in developing plans to address pronounced risk/weakness and recommendations for process improvements and implementation on a global and regional level.
  • Skilled in developing and maintaining business processes and workflows for communication across global and dispersed teams.
  • Must have a strong technical aptitude or background that would allow for understanding diverse and complex development teams and business operations.
  • Ensuring operational and business processes and metrics (daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly) are clearly communicated, understood and achieved.
  • Enable a culture of continuous improvement, including actively championing root cause analysis and trending.
  • Lead by example, be approachable and demonstrate a “can do” attitude to develop a culture of teamwork to drive the achievement and exceeding of targets.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to detect patterns and analyze disparate data. Advanced Excel graphing and data analysis required including dashboards and pivot tables. Also strong in PowerPoint and Word.
  • Ability to interact, collaborate and build relationships with departments such as Support, Finance, Sales Operations, Legal, and HR to ensure Operations is well represented and productive partnerships are maintained.
  • Ability to creatively solve problems with limited resources and input. Must be willing to rollup sleeves in order to resolve constraints, issues, and to accomplish tasks.
  • Ability to step in and troubleshoot processes that are inefficient, lacking, or need resolution within teams and across the organization.
  • Strong personal ‘soft’ skills such as empathy, listening, mirroring and communicating in different methods to establish relationships with internal clients and global teams.
  • Must be willing to be diverse and flexible wearing “many hats” including assignments that may be “outside the box” or challenging to this job description.

Qualifications/Skills/Experience
Location: Remote. Must have prior experience working remotely.

Education: BS/BA degree preferred or equivalent experience; preferably in the fields of computer science, engineering, or preferably computational and data science

Experience:

  • 6+ years experience in a like or similar role in the information technology sector working with ERP systems, corporate, or large enterprise.
  • Solid technical background, with understanding or hands-on experience in software development and web technologies.

Skills:

  • Excellent client-facing, internal communication, and team-building skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
  • Expert or advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. MS Access and SQL or VBA is plus.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Atlassian JIRA, SalesForce, and SharePoint experience is a plus.
